Here's a little inspiration for all my conservative friends about what we have to do in 2010. It started in Massachusetts last Tuesday. Thanks to Powerline

Hate to Promote the 'Horns but Here Goes...

I can't believe I'm posting this but a friend of mine sent me a good article about the dreaded Longhorns. Being a Sooner I may not like them in general but it's good to see a lot of those young men have strong faith.

Strong Christian faith in sports isn't as much about winning on the field as it is about winning in life! One thing I've noticed is that there are lots of strong Christian men playing and coaching college football! The practice of Christianity seems to give many of these athletes the discipline and emotional skills which enable them to succeed. They're great role models as pointed out in the article. This also shows how faith helps us manage life's disappointments.

This morning on Good Morning America, Rudy Giuliani reminds George Stephanopoulus that there had been no terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11. The implication being that President Bush and his administration kept us safe. Not so much for the Obama administration. Hope and change!

Stephanopoulus disagrees with Giuliani of course!

As an aside, I'm still perplexed that such a savvy politician and smart guy screwed up his presidential campaign so badly!!

That Seems Easy for You to Say Now Mr. President!

Thursday President Obama said, "...when the system fails, it is my responsibility."

That seems easy to say after the fact. There was no political risk in accepting responsibility after the whole thing is over and nobody was hurt. I can see Obama and his political advisers calculating that this kind of language sounds like something a leader would say and makes him seem resolute. But if Abdulmutallab had been successful in detonating his loaded underwear the finger of blame would be pointed everywhere but at Obama. I imagine that someone else would be shouldering the responsibility had this lunatic caused 300 innocent American casualties in the war on terror.

A Weather Anamoly

It's a rare event tonight in the South Carolina upstate, SNOW!! Not a lot expected but it makes everybody crazy here nonetheless. I stopped at the grocery store to get some green beans to go with our Greek chicken earlier this evening and there was a big mob buying milk and bread. I suppose the kids are hoping we'll get enough to close school tomorrow.

Republicans Lack of Effort to Oppose "Health Care Reform"

Listened to Rush Limbaugh during lunch today and he was lamenting the fact that Republican congressional leadership hasn't been vehement enough in opposing the health care bill the Dems are trying to secretly negotiate and inflict upon America. Discussing the reasons for the Republicans lack of passion Rush suggests that Republicans in Congress have simply become Washington insiders along with perhaps being afraid of being called racist for opposing Obamacare. I'm not so sure if that's the case or if it's simply that the media won't give the Republicans a voice. I know Mitch McConnell has lamented the fact that he can't get the MSM to air Republican positions. I get lots of emails from the RNC and other Republican leaders urging me to oppose this monstrosity and pointing out how disastrous it will be for folks like you and me. Also, our great senator from S.C., Jim DeMint, has spoken out strongly against this abomination (Obamanation?). Perhaps many Americans aren't hearing the Republican criticisms and alternatives because the networks and major newspapers won't report this side of the story!

BCS Championship Game

Being an Oklahoma Sooner I have a viral disdain for the Texas Longhorns (it even hurts to type the words). Hard to cheer for them. Nonetheless, I always want a Big 12 team to win it all. That along with the fact that some of my Alabama fan friends have gotten a little cocky have made it hard to know who to root for. In the end it will probably be an, oh well, kind of game for me. Don't much care who wins. Right now it looks bleak for the boys in orange anyway (24 to 6 Bama and McCoy's out) so it's probably moot.

Welcome to and from A Sooner in Carolina

Welcome to my new blog. I've been a follower of blogs for a couple of years and thought I'd give it a try. I guess this is pretty much my first blog post and it's a test more than anything else! Come back tomorrow and I'll have something a little more interesting to share.
